Dr. Jeremiah Mung’athia Laichena is a board-certified Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon with over 13 years of medical experience, including 6+ years as a Trauma and Orthopedic Consultant. Dr. Jeremiah Mung’athia Laichena is a highly accomplished and experienced orthopedic surgeon with over 13 years in the medical profession, including more than six years as a Consultant Trauma and Orthopedic Surgeon. His career has been marked by significant contributions to patient care, medical education, and leadership within healthcare institutions. From December 2023, Dr. Laichena has been engaged in private practice, offering his expertise at AAR Hospital, Gurunanak Hospital, and PCEA Tumutumu Hospital. Prior to this, he served at Embu Level 5 Hospital from 2017 to 2023 as the Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon and head of the Orthopedic Surgery Unit. In this role, he was responsible for administrative duties, conducting major ward rounds, running outpatient clinics, performing elective and emergency orthopedic surgeries, and teaching surgery residents, medical officers, interns, and students. His leadership extended to coordinating morbidity and mortality meetings and organizing continuous medical education (CME) sessions. Since 2019, Dr. Laichena has also contributed to PCEA Tumutumu Hospital as a consulting surgeon, managing trauma and orthopedic cases during his personal time. His residency training at the University of Nairobi and Kenyatta National Hospital (2013–2017) equipped him with comprehensive experience in managing inpatient and outpatient orthopedic cases, conducting surgical procedures, and overseeing clinical activities. During this time, he also coordinated CMEs and morbidity meetings, demonstrating a strong commitment to advancing healthcare practices. Earlier in his career, Dr. Laichena worked as a Medical Officer at Outspan Hospital in Nyeri (2011–2012), where he managed various outpatient clinics, including specialized diabetes and pediatric clinics, and taught clinical medicine students. As an intern at Consolata Mathari Mission Hospital (2010–2011), he gained experience in obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, internal medicine, and pediatrics. His responsibilities included managing inpatients, outpatient care, and preparing patients for elective and emergency surgeries.
